Hackensack is the county seat and older housing, not a mall-corridor story. Brick two-families and walk-ups near Prospect Avenue or Main Street share party walls; a leak on one side can stain the next dining room. Lots toward the Hackensack River sit on a higher water table; a “dried” garden apartment still smells in August. Downtown conversions add tight baths and leftover construction moisture. Finished cellars often still have carpet pad. A buyer or a board that wants a PDF is a notes field, not a promise that we walk in. Write “two-family,” “garden apartment,” or “condo / board” if that is you.
You should get back: notes on every wet-looking room, moisture readings, what was not opened, samples only if they change the decision, and a next step. We do not quote a BreatheSafe price. We do not invent a New Jersey license number. A general home inspection is not a mold inspection.
